Social Vehicle Lister Stopped Working? What Car Salespeople Can Do (2026)

Social Vehicle Lister is a Chrome extension with about 2,000 users that loads a dealer's inventory and posts one car at a time to Facebook Marketplace. Its Web Store listing shows a last update of April 27, 2025 — seventeen months ago as of this writing. Its maker, Social Auto Group, now publishes the Shiftly Auto Lister listings instead. Facebook changed the Marketplace vehicle form more than once in that time, including a new seller layout and the 2026 Seller app, and an extension that fills Facebook's form by hand breaks when the form changes. If nobody ships an update, it stays broken.
Why a listing extension suddenly stops working
- Facebook renamed or moved fields in the vehicle listing form. The extension is still looking for the old ones, so cars load but the post never completes.
- Facebook changed the page the extension reads your inventory or your listings from, so the list comes up empty.
- The extension's own service changed or retired the version you have. Chrome keeps the extension installed but it can no longer talk to its backend.
- Your Facebook account is restricted. This looks identical to a broken extension: the tool fills the form and Facebook quietly refuses the listing.
Check these four things first
- Open the extension's Web Store page and read the Updated date. If it is more than a few months old, the odds are the tool, not you.
- Post one car by hand on facebook.com. If Facebook refuses or hides it, the problem is your account or the listing, not the extension. Our guide on daily limits covers the patterns that trigger restrictions.
- Go to chrome://extensions, confirm the extension is on and shows no corruption warning, then reload Facebook and sign in again.
- Try the other Marketplace seller layout if Facebook offers it. Some extensions only ever supported one of the two.
Your options if it stays broken
- Post by hand. Fine if you list a handful of cars a week; the form takes about five minutes per car once the photos are ready.
- Move to the maker's current product. Shiftly Auto Lister is sold to dealerships after a demo; the store buys the seats and you install with the store's access key, so this is a manager's decision rather than yours.
- Pick a maintained extension you can start on your own. Our comparison lists eleven vehicle extensions with their Web Store users, update dates, prices and whether sold cars come down.
- TurboSell is one of them: free for one salesperson with five cars live, then every car for $9.99 your first month and $39 a month after. It imports the dealer website or the listing sites you already use, writes each description, posts under your own Facebook login and marks sold cars sold.
Before you switch, take these with you
- Your live listings stay up. Nothing on Marketplace disappears when you remove an extension, so there is no rush to repost.
- Mark the cars that already sold so the new tool does not post them again.
- Keep the posting pace that was working for your account — a steady few cars a day, not a burst.
- Write down which cars are live and where, so the new tool's sold-car removal has a clean starting point.
